In case of failing nodes or when rolling out upgrades one doesen’t want to migrate/evict all VMs manually. In case of failing hosts, one even wants to start eviction before an admin took action, as the workload should run again as fast as possible. I will show how we use Kubernetes and basic OpenStack features to run automatic evictions/migrations at the livecycle management and day-2 operation tool Yaook. This functionality we don’t only use for host outages but for daily business config changes and updates, as well as OpenStack upgrades.
