In the event of node failures or when rolling out upgrades, one does not want to migrate or evict all VMs manually. In the event of host failures, one even wants to initiate eviction before an administrator takes action, as the workload should be up and running again as quickly as possible. I will demonstrate how we use Kubernetes and basic OpenStack features to carry out automatic evictions and migrations within Yaook, our lifecycle management and day-2 operations tool. We utilise this functionality not only for host outages but also for routine configuration changes and updates, as well as OpenStack upgrades.
