Shaping open cloud infrastructures together: ALASCA is looking for project partners in Saxony

The Free State of Saxony supports the ALASCA project FOCIS the establishment and further development of open, open-source-based cloud infrastructures. In terms of digital sovereignty, the focus is also on improving the portability and interoperability of different cloud providers. This goal is being realised in particular through the integration and further development of open standards, driven by the Sovereign Cloud Stackcan be achieved.

User-centred work and the resulting real user experiences and feedback should serve as the basis for the targeted and efficient optimisation of the projects anchored in ALASCA. With this in mind, partner companies or public institutions from Saxony are being sought for the joint realisation of a demonstrator.

We are looking for:

As ALASCA FOCIS, we are now looking for players who would like to realise one of the following projects with us in the near future:

  • Development of a public or private cloud based on the ALASCA projects for IaaS (Yaook) or KaaS (Yake)

  • want to make an existing OpenStack cloud compatible with the SCS-IaaS standard

  • Development of a multi-cloud application that can be rolled out on SCS-IaaS compatible clouds

  • the targeted operation of existing workloads based on individual metrics on different clouds or

  • equipping existing heterogeneous cloud infrastructure with efficient monitoring.

ALASCA's largest project is the OpenStack-based lifecycle management tool Yaook. In addition, the CNCF-certified K8s distribution is Tarookthe KaaS/Gardener tool Yake, Arkoa platform for efficient monitoring of hybrid cloud infrastructure and the project Krakea solution for the intelligent distribution of workloads in multi-clouds, is located in ALASCA. In addition, ALASCA is in close dialogue with the Sovereign Cloud Stack (SCS) community in order to drive forward the joint development of open cloud standards and the associated certification processes.
