The ALASCA Summit 2025 Beginning of November in German Hygiene Museum Dresden provides the open source community with a platform to talk about Digital sovereignty and European cloud technologies to discuss. Under the motto "Not from Alaska. From Europe. Built for Europe's Cloud Future" In addition to technological developments, the protection European values such as data protection, data sovereignty and open standards take centre stage.
As ALASCA, we will be welcoming numerous technical experts as well as representatives of the Saxon government and public institutions to the summit in Dresden, including the State Chancellery and, in particular, Dr Sebastian Lindner from the Saxon State Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labour, Energy and Climate Protection.
In addition to a brief presentation on Saxony's digital strategy, Dr Lindner will be joined by representatives from industry, such as STACKIT GmbH (Cloud der Schwarz-IT), secunet Security Networks GmbH and other companies in the field of open cloud infrastructures in a panel on the topic of "Continuity on the path to digital sovereignty - European initiatives in focus" be represented.
The SMWA's participation emphasises the importance of Open Source in Saxony Digital strategywhich is based on transparency, sustainability and the "public money, public good" sets. In addition, the Free State of Saxony is funding the project FOCIS - Free and Open Cloud Initiative Saxony the expansion of open cloud technologies here in the region. The support of the Free State thus emphasises Saxony's role as a Pioneer for digital sovereignty and open IT infrastructures in Germany.
