White Paper on the ALASCA Round Table

On 25 March 2025, key representatives from the worlds of business and politics came together in Berlin for the ALASCA Round Table on the topic of Continuity on the Path to Digital Sovereignty - European Initiatives in Focus together. The question of how the various initiatives can be categorised in the path to digital sovereignty and how continuity can be maintained was discussed. In addition, the future prospects and the challenges that still need to be overcome on the path to digital sovereignty in order to ensure future progress were examined. Concrete starting points for new and existing initiatives, necessary measures to promote systematic solutions at European, national and regional level and proposals to strengthen cooperation were also developed.

The following white paper provides a summarised overview of the various European initiatives on digital sovereignty, highlighting their origins, objectives and the current status of their implementation. It examines how these initiatives are interlinked and the common challenges they face on the road to a sovereign and secure digital future for Europe. In addition, the white paper summarises the key discussion points, findings and valuable perspectives of the experts involved in the ongoing initiatives at the ALASCA Round Table.
